Attorney Profile
A Road Less Traveled
Michelle Vincler, J.D., Ph.D.
Bio & Education
The path to law was not a straight one for me. I grew up in suburb of Cleveland, OH and attended Drexel University on a volleyball scholarship. I graduated from Drexel in 1992 with a B.S. in Psychology. I yearned for warmer weather, and entered a doctorate program in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. During my time in graduate school, I joined a band based in Winston-Salem as a bass player. While touring and recording slowed my thesis progress, I ultimately obtained my Ph.D. in 1998.
My scientific career began with two post-doctoral fellowships at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, which led to a faculty appointment in 2003. My research in chronic pain was published in over 25 journals, including the prestigious Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, and I am a co-inventor on a patent.
I graduated from Elon University School of Law in 2012 and was licensed as a North Carolina attorney that same year. I worked a small firm in Winston-Salem prior to opening my own practice.
Experience
A Different Perspectiv
My scientific training and experience provide numerous unique advantages for my clients.
I have actual experience with many of the scientific techniques that are the subject of expert testimony, which allows me to ask critical questions of the process performed and the appropriateness of the analyses.
I understand the importance and implications of research publication.
I can challenge testimony on drug effects using pharmacological and medical principles, language and research.
My approach to the law is analytical and practical. I will provide you with an honest opinion of the strengths and weaknesses of your case to allow you to make rational choices on whether and how to proceed. Litigation always involves risks, and I strive to explain the benefit-to-risk ratio for each case to my clients.
I am a strong advocate for my clients whether your issue involves a simple breach of contract or a complex breach of fiduciary duty by a power of attorney. You deserve strong, fair advice and representation.
